Experience
Lucy began her teaching career during the rollout of the New Curriculum for Wales 2022. Working across various progression steps in primary classrooms, she quickly recognised the unique social and emotional challenges many children face—particularly around relationships and conflict resolution. While academic achievement was a priority, it was clear that emotional literacy and well-being often needed more attention.
Naturally drawn to creating nurturing, empathetic spaces, Lucy began to embed restorative approaches in her classroom without even realising it—encouraging open dialogue, active listening, and mutual respect. This early experience sparked a lasting passion for restorative practice and its potential to transform learning environments.
Today, as a practitioner with the Wales Restorative Approaches Partnership (WRAP), Lucy supports schools and communities in embedding restorative approaches that go beyond behaviour management—fostering inclusive cultures where positive relationships and emotional well-being are prioritised. Her work focuses on training educators and practitioners to build emotionally literate, resilient, and empathetic environments, even within the constraints of a demanding curriculum.
Through this work, Lucy feels privileged to contribute to a broader movement that empowers not only educators, but many other sectors, to create environments that nurture positive relationships. Lucy is committed to being a catalyst for positive, systemic change—helping schools and wider sectors become more supportive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of every child.
